BIOGRAPHY

Tak Him Wong is a Hong Kong flutist and conductor who completed his master's degree at Zürcher Hochschule der Künste with Master of Arts in Concert performance

– flute, under the tutelage of Prof. Maria Goldschmidt-Pahn. He began his flute studies at the age of 6 under Mr. Peter Chan and study with Ms. Izaskun Erdocia during his

undergraduate studies at Hong Kong Baptist University. With a student string orchestra conducted by Mr. Marco Kwok, He gave his undergraduate concerto recital

in 2018 at the HKBU Academic Community Hall. As part of his master's degree at the ZHdK, he also studied piccolo with Ms. Haika Lübcke. He is currently studying

Conducting Master at Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana with Prof. Marc Kissóczy. Starting from September 2025, he will study his Conducting Master at Hochschule für Musik Freiburg with Prof. Scott Sandmeier.

Tak Him is active in various orchestras and ensembles. He is currently the flutist and piccoloist of Jugendorchester Thurgau, Deutsch-Skandinavische Jugend-

Philharmonie and Neue Philharmonie München. In 2022 he completed an internship with the Biel Solothurn Symphony Orchestra as principal flutist and second flutist. He served as the flutist of the ZHdK Conducting Ensemble for Student Conductors in 2021 – 2023. In the same period, He was also actively involved in several Orchestra Projects with Orchester der ZHdK and various Bachelor and Master projects, such as being a Solo Piccoloist at Hindemith Viola Concerto. He also played in Academia Internacional de Músicade Solsona Festival Orchestra 2019, Collegium Musicum Hong Kong, HKBU Symphony Orchestra, HKBU Wind Symphony Orchestra, among others. Recently, he found three active chamber music groups including Damaskinos-Wong Duet, Duo Mesor and Aurora Flute Trio.

Tak Him took part in various music competitions. He was the winner of the New Jersey Sinfonietta – International Showcase Music Competition 2024, Bach International Music Competition 2024, Royal Maas International Music Competition 2024, Padova

International Music Competition 2022, “London” Grand Prize Virtuoso 2019, the North International Music Competition 2019 and King's Peak International Music Competition 2021; and received third prize from France Music Competition (Les Musicales du Centre) 2023 and Rising Stars Grand Prix 2019. In 2020, Tak Him was also awarded the HKSAR Government Talent Development Scholarship and Honorable Mention for Outstanding Music Performance, awarded by the Department of Music at the HKBU. He also received scholarships from the ZHdK Foundation and the Bruno

Schuler Foundation in 2022. In 2023, he was awarded the Scholarship fund from the Emsbürener Musiktage and Swiss-European Mobility Programme Traineeship Grant.

 

Active in various types of music festivals and activities, Tak Him took part in the Tamper Flute Fest, Landesmusikakademie Conducting Workshop, Emsbürener

Musiktage, Festival Académie Internationale d'Ete de Nice and the summer program of the Berklee College of Music in Los Angeles, with a Scholarship from the respective organizations. He has also been invited to perform internationally, including at Berliner

Philharomie, Hong Kong Government House, the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall

and the Conservatoire de Nice. He has also performed in Beijing, Bern, Berlin, Brussels,

London, Los Angeles, Lugano, Nice, Paris, Solsona, Taipei and Zürich. In July 2025, he was invited to make his Solo Concerto Debut with Maestro David Svec and Philharmonisches Orchester Budweis at Biel/Bienne
